If you’re new to this blog or think that you may have missed reading some of the posts this past month, never fear. Here’s a summary of the royal merriment we’ve seen:

British Royals

The British royal family was in the news almost everyday this month. The Royal Art collection got a boost with the identification of a Caravaggio. Members of the family celebrated Remembrance Day with the rest of the nation. Despite a bad back, The Queen was still able to open State Parliament, treating us to lots of photos of the pomp involved. She and Prince Philip met the cast of the new James Bond movie “Casino Royale”. An announcement was made this month of their visit to the U.S. next year.

Prince Charles and Camilla were in their fair share of the news. They visited several places, including Pakistan. We saw quite a number of photos of them there, as well as a yak of a royal Gift. It was in Pakistan that Camilla made a controversial comment regarding British students. The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall also visited North East England, including Rothbury. They attended a Gala to celebrate the work of The Prince’s Trust. During an Armistice Day Tribute, Prince Charles was caught on-camera looking asleep. Well, I’m not going to suggest that the Prince is getting on in years, but he did celebrate his 58th birthday this month. Finally, Prince Charles’ website got a nice update. We also got peeks at the residences of The Prince of Wales.

Prince William, who’s been in training in Sandhurst, got a taste of anonymity. There have been reports of a plan for him to slowly become the public face of the monarchy in the next few years. There are speculations that his romance with Kate Middleton will lead to an engagement soon. Even Woolworths has joined the bandwagon and has readied souvenirs for the Royal Engagement, just in case. Meanwhile, Kate goes about her everyday life, shopping with her mum, throwing out the trash and flying to South Africa to celebrate a friend’s birthday.

Prince Harry hasn’t been in the news much, though he was spotted in South Africa visiting girlfriend Chelsy Davy. His preference for Spiderman sleepcovers, even in Army barracks, has been revealed. The two young British princes are said to be planning a pop concert to honor their mum Diana next year. If you wish to see the princes, or rather their wax likenesses, they are currently on display at Madame Tussauds New York.

Other British royals we’ve seen were Prince Edward visiting Antigua and Princess Anne thanks donors to a hospital and visiting Bahrain. The Duchess of York, Sarah Ferguson, launched her own jewelry line.

Danish Royals

Danish Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary were on several trips, including one to the E.U. Headquarters in Brussels. They went on a private holiday in Tasmania, to visit Princess Mary’s family.

Japanese Royals

Prince Akishino visited Paraguay on a goodwill tour. Princess Aiko had her Chakko-no-gi Ceremony and visited the Zoo on a school trip. New heir to the throne, Prince Hisahito, was dedicated in a Shinto shrine.

Other Royals

Dubai’s crown prince Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum gave an island as a gift. Norway’s Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit enjoyed a visit to India. Jordan’s King Abdullah II and Queen Rania were in England, while Dutch Crown Prince Willem-Alexander and Princess Maxima visited New Zealand.

We saw royals involved in sports. Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana of Thailand will be playing in the Asian Games. Crown Prince Hj Al-Muhtadee Billah of Brunei represented his country in the World Pool Championship in Manila.

Finally, in truly merry news, Spain’s Crown Prince Felipe and Princess Letizia announced that they are expecting another baby girl.
