The Queen’s 55th Year

Today marks the 55th year of Queen Elizabeth II’s reign. The Queen acceded to the British throne upon the death of her father King George VI on February 6, 1952.
The King’s Troop will fire a 41-gun salute in Hyde Park and a 62-gun salute will be carried out at the Tower of London by the Honourable Artillery Company.
The Queen marked the anniversary privately at her Sandringham residence.
