Prince Harry will be Sent to Iraq
To try to stem the controversy surrounding Prince Harry’s deployment to Iraq, the head of the British Army, General Sir Richard Dannatt has announced that the soldier prince will not be left behind when his unit leaves for the war zone. He also said that the decision will still be under continual review. But as of now, Prince Harry is on schedule to leave next month.
While there is danger clearly awaiting the prince in Iraq, I really don’t see how he can stay behind. This is, after all, what he trained for. His fellow soldiers know that having him in their midst will increase danger to themselves, but they have not shunned him. Cornet Wales is a soldier, after all. What’s more, he is a prince.
Duty. Responsibility. Courage. And fighting for his country. These rest on his shoulders and he is much admired for carrying them well. Wishes for his safety and that of his men go with him.
