Prince Harry Pulled Out of Iraq Tour

So Prince Harry will not be going to Iraq after all.
This update from Clarence House describes the decision made by General Sir Richard Dannatt, Chief of the General Staff. Cited as reasons for the turn-around are “a number of specific threats” against Prince Harry, and “widespread knowledge and discussion of his deployment”.
The former came about because of the latter. In hindsight, it would have been better for the British Army to have kept the issue of Prince Harry’s deployment under secrecy. If they were to send him, the world didn’t need to know about it beforehand. There would not have been these discussions and threats had they done that.
What’s next for Prince Harry? Obviously, as the statement acknowledges, he’s very disappointed but won’t be leaving the Army over this. General Dannatt himself says that he has “asked Prince Harry’s Commanding Officer to continue to develop Prince Harry’s professional career in the Army”. I wonder what kind of repercussions this will have on the prince’s career as a soldier.
