An All-Night Party Planned for Diana Memorial

by Maricar on May 25th, 2007

William and Harry

Prince William and Prince Harry are adding an all-night party to the concert which will be held in memory of their mother, Princess Diana.

The July 1 concert, which features Elton John and Rod Stewart among others, reportedly had trouble signing other big names to attend. Might this bash be a rather desperate attempt by the princes not to let their event be overshadowed by Live Earth, which already has drawn more popular celebrities?

The rest of the British royal establishment are not happy about the plan.

“There is a genuine fear that the Princes could be photographed falling out of the party in the early hours. It is not seen as a fitting memorial,” said a source in the royal household.

That’s possible, given the two princes’ penchants for serious partying.

I do think that the party will be a success. I don’t think William & harry will plan a party that wouldn’t be fitting for their mother. The Concert for Diana and The Live Earth will be two exraordinary events. I look forward to them both.

I hope they can keep the party from going out of control, especially in the wee hours and after much booze has flowed. It would be a poor memorial for Diana if we see photos of drunken people the day after.
