A Royal Wedding in Brunei
June 11, 2007 by Maricar Macalincag

Princess Hajah Bulqiah, 31, the daughter of Brunei’s Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, was exchanged marriage vows with Khairul Khalil, 32, on June 7. A traditional ceremony, the highlight of the royal wedding’s 2-week celebration, was then held on Sunday. The royal couple bowed to the Sultan and were presented to the people of Brunei.
The princess is the fourth child of the Sultan, who is one of the richest men in the world. The celebrations certainly did not lack in lavishness and glitter. The bride and groom wore attires made of fabric interwoven with real gold thread. The bride also had on a diamond tiara, and carried a bouquet of diamond-studded flowers. The ceremony was held in the gold-decorated throne room of the Nurul Iman palace. Afterwards, the royal couple took a cruise through town in a gold Rolls-Royce.
I know you want more photos, so here they are:

The royal couple were both educated in Britain, now hold government positions in Brunei. Mr Khairul received a royal title and is now known as “Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Anak Khairul Khalil”, or “very noble”.
Congratulations to the new royal couple!
