So what have the merry royals been up to last month? Here’s a wrap-up:

Britain’s Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip

Last month, the 54th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth’s coronation was marked quietly at the Epsom Derby. The Queen and Prince Philip attended a garden party in Northern Ireland. Among the activities of the busy monarch was the opening of the National Assembly of Wales. She’s not too busy, though, not to have time to maintain an email account. Later this year, The Queen will hear Paul Potts, Winner of Britain’s Got Talent, sing opera at the Royal Variety Performance.

An appeal has gone out to the British public to help save Buckingham Palace, even as accounts revealed the annual cost of The Queen.

Prince Charles and Camilla

Prince Charles, who got a pay raise this month, saved a historic Scottish house at the last minute. One of his properties had a problem with some bat(ty) residents. His wife Camilla shared his recycling efforts by wearing her wedding dress again. At one of their public engagements, both Prince Charles and Camilla got hugs from an admiring schoolgirl.

Prince William and Prince Harry

Prince William and Prince Harry had a busy month organizing the memorial concert for their mother Diana. Prior to the concert, they were interviewed by NBC’s Matt Lauer, and BBC’s Fearne Cotton. A documentary of Diana’s death, which included photos that were supposedly stolen, was aired on Britain’s Channel 4. Prince William and Prince Harry were reportedly planning to sue the TV channel over the airing of the film.

Last month, Prince William celebrated his 25th birthday and got a pay raise. The big news though was his reported reunion with Kate Middleton. The pair, who split a few weeks ago, are said to have resumed their relationship. However, Kate, who hasn’t been lacking for male attention during their separation, seems to harbor some reservations about rekindling her romance with Prince William.

After the cancellation of his Iraq tour, reports went around that Prince Harry was depressed and wanted to quit the Army, and that he was going to be confined to a desk job. Prince Harry did eventually went to Alberta, Canada, not for a desk job, but for further training. While there, he got involved in widely reported incidents with a couple of barmaids. Prince Harry had always like the ladies. Paul McCartney says that on his daughter Maryeven as an 8-year-old Harry had a crush . (via Ireland Online)

Other British Royals

Royal cousins Prince William and Zara Philips showed off their expertise on horses at different events. Meanwhile, Princess Anne fell during a walk-about and scolded the man who came to her aid.

European Royals

Danish Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary attended a football game. The christening of their daughter was being planned to be a ‘low key’ affair. Sweden’s Prince Carl Philip and Princess Madeleine kicked off their country’s National Day celebrations. Monaco’s Prince Albert and Charlene Wittstock were spotted together enjoying a sporting event.

We saw a fan video celebrating the romance of Spain’s Prince Felipe and Princess Letizia. Belgium’s King Albert II was in excellent condition after hip replacement surgery.

Dutch Crown Prince Willem-Alexander is up for re-election to the International Olympic Committee. His daughter Princess Alexia turned two years old last month. Spanish King Juan Carlos was to receive a pair of pandas from China.

Asian Royals

Japan’s Crown Prince Naruhito had a successful surgery. Brunei celebrated a lavish royal wedding. Special coins are set to be issued for the Thai King’s birthday.
