Norway’s Queen Sonja Celebrates 70 Years
July 5, 2007 by Maricar Macalincag

Norway’s Queen Sonja turned 70 on July 4. Happy birthday, Queen Sonja!
Celebrations started in Stavanger with a thanksgiving service at the Stavanger Cathedral, and included a cruise along the coast of Southern Norway. A private dinner was held at the Flor og Fjære restaurant, before the guests boarded the Royal Yachts Norge and Dannebrog, and the Navy vessel KNM Horten.
Today, July 5, King Harald and Queen Sonja and all their guests sailed up the Spangereid Canal in Lindesnes. Her Majesty officially opened the canal before the Royal party went to Lindesnes lighthouse – the southernmost point of the Norwegian mainland. The day ended with a private dinner.
