Frenzy Over the First Post-Break-Up Photo of William and Kate

by Maricar on October 5th, 2007

Prince William Kate MiddletonThe paparazzi are in a frenzy to snap the first photo showing Prince William and Kate Middleton together after their much-publicized break-up earlier this year. So much so that the photographers have engaged in ‘threatening behavior’ that is reminiscent of how Princess Diana was hounded. According to reports, Prince William and Kate were leaving the Boujis nightclub recently when they were pursued by photographers on motorcycles and on foot.

Though nobody doubts these days that they have reunited, the pair have been careful not to be seen in public together. It has been suggested that they should have just posed for photographers, to get it over with. On one hand, they know that there is intense interest in their relationship, and they are bound to be regarded as hot news wherever they go. Letting the photographers get their shots would confirm their relationship, and, here’s hoping, give the couple some breathing space.

On the other hand, they are certainly entitled to their privacy. And if they’re not willing to court the press just now (or ever), can anybody force them to? And is there a guarantee that giving the paparazzi what they want would result in no more hounding and harassment?

There should be no more reasons for the press to act like that again, we know they are together so I think everyone should give them some space now. I’m very happy for William & Kate.

    Hi, Maricar.

I’m always amazed at the ruthlessness of the UK press. They really do deserve some privacy until they get married, if they ever choose to do so!

Hi Claudius, I’m happy for them too. I understand people want to see a photo of them together, but there should be some limits as to how these photos are obtained. Especially after what happened 10 years ago.

Hi Jed, Thanks for stopping by. :) I’m sure you’re more familiar with the London press than I am. We just don’t get quite that kind of frenzy here in the U.S.
