The Merry Royals in October 2007

monthly

It’s November already. Last month, we saw quite a variety of royal news, ranging from the favored dogs of royals, to a brewing blackmail scandal. Read on for a recap of October’s royal news:

British Royals

The month began with the release of an entire book written about the royal dogs. Prince Charles was at the right place and time to come to the assistance of an injured biker. Prince William continued his royal appearances, which included a time to play football with kids. It was reported that he will join the Royal Navy and the Royal Air Force next year. On a sad note, Prince William attended the funeral of a friend, who was killed in Iraq.

Prince William and Kate Middleton found themselves in the middle of a papparazi frenzy over their first post-break-up photo. Their relationship seems as strong as ever, evidenced by a special trip to Balmoral. But the Daily Mail still poses the question: Does William dare dump Kate again?

This month was also with its share of un-merry news for the British royal family. Prince Harry was seen snorting vodka, in a game that could turn dangerous. Rare birds were shot at the Queen’s Sandringham estate. A royal blackmail scandal started to brew, with Viscount Linley named as the target.

Danish Royals

Denmark’s royal family announced the engagement of Prince Joachim to Marie Cavallier. And Prince Christian celebrated his 2nd Birthday last month!

Spanish Royals

Princess Letizia attended the Congress on TV and Childhood. Prince Felipe handed out his awards to distinguished persons, including former US Vice President and Nobel Peace Prize winner Al Gore. The Spanish royals also celebrated Princess Leonor’s 2nd birthday!

Dutch Royals

Princess Ariane, the youngest daughter of Crown Prince Willem-Alexander and Princess Maxima, was christened at the Hague. Prince Willem-Alexander joined the climate change debate. Various members of the royal family pitched in to do volunteer work. Queen Beatrix, Prine Willem-Alexander and Princess Maxima later went on a state visit to India.

Other Royals

Norway’s King Harald finally gave his comments about his daughter’s controversial exploits. He and Queen Sonja went to Germany on an official visit.

Jordan’s King Abdullah II met with US First Lady Laura Bush. His wife Queen Rania accepted the UNA-USA Global Humanitarian Action Award.

Thailand’s King Bhumibol was admitted to the hospital.

Monaco’s Prince Albert was Sharon Stone’s prince on the dancefloor.
