Behind the Palace Walls: The British Royal Jewels

by Maricar Macalincag on March 3rd, 2008

The royal jewels are shown on ABC’s documentary, “The Royal Family: Behind the Palace Walls“. David Thomas was the crown jeweler (he has since retired), and the only one (other than the royals) who can touch the royal jewels. We get a close look at the storied jewels adorning the Imperial State Crown, worn by The Queen at the annual State Opening of Parliament.

There is a behind-the-scenes look at the State Opening of Parliament. The Queen and the State Crown arrive separately. The Crown actually has its own attendants!

The Queen’s entrance into Parliament is truly a vision of regal majesty. There is a huge amount of “show” in this ceremony, which is very interesting to see.

I think The Queen’s appearance at Parliament is my favorite of all. This is the moment when she is at her most queenly.

Next, the heirs to the throne.
