Gordon Brown’s Wrong Turn Prompts Queen’s Rare Gossipy Moment
Queen Elizabeth got a bit of a giggle at a misstep by Prime Minister Gordon Brown at the State Banquet for French President Nicolas Sarkozy.
The PM took a wrong turn and ended up late at the table. It would not have been noticed. But the Queen was caught by a hidden microphone saying “The prime minister got lost. He disappeared the wrong way…at the crucial moment.” The Queen made the comment to Princess Anne, apparently not aware that the microphones could pick it up.
It’s a rare instance for the Queen to be caught saying something even remotely outside protocol. It just shows her sense of humor, and occasionally indulges in light gossip, even about her guests.
