Prince William Landed Chinook in Kate’s Backyard

April 21, 2008 by Maricar Macalincag

The flap over Prince William’s use of an expensive military helicopter has gotten worse over the past days. The new pilot apparently flew the helicopter to Bucklebury, and landed it on a field near the home of Kate Middleton’s parents. This all happened on April 3. You remember that on April 11, Prince William took the helicopter to the Isle of Wight, where Peter Phillips’ stag do was held that weekend.

The Royal Air Force has defended the flight to the Isle of Wight as necessary for the completion of William’s training. However, this new revelation has the made Air Chief Marshal Sir Glenn Torpy, head of the RAF, livid. He has demanded an explanation for what happened.

Many other new pilots may have landed in that field near the Middletons’ house as part of their training. But they are not subject to scrutiny like Prince William is. I wonder how far that field is from the house. Is it literally their backyard?
