Prince William at the Sporting Heroes Dinner

Prince William attended the Sporting Heroes Dinner at London’s Guildhall on May 1. The black-tie event, which celebrates great British sportsmen, was held to benefit Wellbeing of Women, a health charity, and ORBISs, an international organization dedicated to saving sight. The two charities were chosen by David Lewis, the mayor of the City of London.

Prince William is the patron of this year’s Lord Mayor’s Appeal. I’ve read that a companion was included in his invitation. However, Prince William has chosen to attend on his own. Until his relationship with Kate Middleton is formalized, we probably shouldn’t expect her to be by his side at official functions like this. While it would confirm the status of their relationship (and wouldn’t we love that!), it could also be seen as inappropriate by some. She will have enough official appearances if and when they get engaged/married.

In the photo are Teresa Lewis, Lord Mayor David Lewis, Sarah Brown, Prince William, Wendy Lloyd (Director of the Appeal), and Sir Victor Blank.

You can see more photos of the event here.
