The Guests at the Wedding of Peter Phillips and Autumn Kelly

About 300 guests converged on Windsor Castle to celebrate the wedding of Peter Phillips and Autumn Kelly today, May 17, 2008. All the senior royals were present for the wedding of Queen Elizabeth’s first grandchild, who himself is 11th in line to the throne.

Queen Elizabeth was elegant in a silver brocade ensemble and matching hat in grey and brown. The Duchess of Cornwall wore a similar hat to complete her look. Princess Anne was hatless in her simple chocolate-brown dress and cream jacket. The mother of the bride, Kitty, wore a long light blue dress with a wide-brimmed hat. The groom’s cousin Princess Beatrice wore a rather startlingly colorful head of butterflies.

Attending the bride were Zara Phillips (Peter’s sister, photo above), Jacqueline Aubie (Autumn’s friend from Canada), Susannah Toynbee, (a friend of Autumn’s from England); and children Stephanie Phillips (Peter’s half-sister), Jessica Kelly (Autumn’s half-sister), and Rosie Bush (Peter’s god-daughter). The bridesmaids had white flowers in their hair to match the bouquets they carried. 

Notably absent was Prince William. He was in Kenya to attend the wedding of Batian Craig, the brother of his ex-girlfriend Jecca. In his stead at his cousin’s wedding was his girlfriend Kate Middleton. Also present was Chelsy Davy, Prince Harry’s girlfriend, who was to meet The Queen for the first time. The two royal girlfriends, around whom speculations of royal weddings continue to swirl, discreetly made themselves scarce after the ceremony. Instead of exiting through the front of the church with the royal family, they made their way out through a side door, thus avoiding undue attention for themselves. It is, after all, Peter and Autumn’s special day.
