Scandinavian Royals on Trip to the Arctic

The heirs to three thrones are together this week on a study tour of the Arctic. Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden, Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark, and Crown Prince Haakon of Norway are learning more about climate change over the 6-day trip. They left Svalbard, Norway on a Swedish research ship, Oden, on June 21, 2008.

The three royals are patrons of the International Polar Year. The tour, which is the first time the three are together for a week, was initiated by Princess Victoria. They will be learning about the effects of climate change on the area, through observations of the research crew and in seminars.

The royal families they represent seem to have good relationships with each other, with members attending family weddings and such. This trip will surely strengthen the bonds between them all the more.
