Spanish Royals Visit Crash Survivors, Mourn Victims

A solemn Crown Prince Felipe and Crown Princess Letizia visited the survivors of the plane crash in Madrid which killed 153 people on August 21, 2008. There were nineteen survivors, some of them are critically injured.

Prince Felipe and Princess Letizia offered their support for the families of the victims and for the survivors in La Paz hospital.

“All Spaniards feel this disaster. Spain is really mourning and it is very difficult for all.” Prince Felipe summed up the shock caused by the plane crash at Madrid’s Barajas airport after visiting the wounded and their families in hospitals around the Spanish capital.

…”We wanted today to be with the relatives and the injured. We wanted to be in the hospitasl where they are suffering and fighting for their lives”.

Spain has declared three days of national mourning for those who lost their lives. King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia visited with the families of the victims.
