Queen Elizabeth made Google news with a visit to the UK headquarters of the search engine giant last October 16, 2008.
Accompanied by Prince Philip, The Queen was given a tour of GooglePlex, as the offices are known, and met Mr. Nikesh Arora, President of Google Europe. They were shown demonstrations of the latest technology from Google. The Queen also enjoyed the popular video clip of a laughing baby.

The royals met with schoolchildren who won a competition to design new “doodles” for Google. They also attended a reception with the Google staff and contributors to YouTube, which is owned by Google. Queen Elizabeth has her own Royal Channel, launched in December 2007, on the video-sharing site. At the end of the visit, Queen Elizabeth uploaded a video to the British Monarchy’s channel.
A Google doodle (shown behind The Queen in the photo above) was specially commissioned to mark the royal visit.
