Prince Andrew, the Duke of York, has taken his daughter Princess Eugenie with him on an official visit to China this week.
Prince Andrew arrived in Shanghai on October 31, 2008, after a short visit to Mongolia. His visit has taken him to several provinces in China, including Hubei and Sichuan.
In his role as Special Representative for International Trade and Investment, the Duke of York has met with representatives of China-based British companies and offices, and Chinese government officials.
Princess Eugenie, 18, is on her gap year and is accompanying her father on this trip to gain experience in attending official royal engagements. She does not attend meetings with her father, but accompanies him to evening receptions. Prince Andrew also brought Princess Beatrice, then on her gap year, on an official trip to Egypt at the start of the year.

On Tuesday, November 4, Prince Andrew and Princess Eugenie visited Dujiangyan, near the epicenter of the earthquake last May. They met children who have been studying at a temporary school built after the earthquake. The royals laid flowers in memory of the victims at one of the worst-hit areas of the earthquake.
