Christening of Denmark’s New Prince Henrik
July 27, 2009 by Maricar Macalincag
The first son of Danish Prince Joachim and Princess Marie was christened on July 26, 2009. According to tradition, the baby’s name, Prince Henrik Carl Joachim Alain, was first revealed during the ceremony. The new prince was born on May 4, 2009.
Bishop Erik Norman Svendsen officiated at the Mogeltonder church in Denmark, where Prince Joachim and Princess Marie were married in May 2008.
Attending the christening were the new prince’s grandparents: Queen Margrethe and Prince Henrik, Francois Grassiot, Christian Grassiot and Alain Cavallier (Princess Marie’s mother, stepfather and father, respectively). Also present were Prince Frederik, Princess Marie and their children Princes Christian and Princess Isabella, Prince Joachim’ sons Prince Felix and Prince Nikolai, Comtess Ingrid von Pfeil, Count Richard von Pfeil, Prince Gustav Prince zu Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg and his fiancee, Carina Axelsson.

I’m a regular reader of the merryroyals site and i find it fantastic! Many thanks to Maricar for a great deal of elaborate entries and very many lovely photos. These in particular are awesome too, it feels really wonderful catching up with the lives of the royals and in particular the babies that seem to have been born yesterday, always looking so grown.
Are Prince Gustav and Carina Axelsson engaged?
Hi Paddy, thanks for the nice words. I’m glad you enjoy the blog.
S, about the engagement, that is what is apparent, based on my photo source. But I will dig around some more to see what turns up.
