Prince Felipe, Princess Letizia Visit Asturian Village of the Year
October 27, 2009 by Maricar Macalincag
Crown Prince Felipe and Crown Princess Letizia of Spain recognized Sobrescobio in Asturias, Spain as 2009’s Asturian Village of the Year. The award is given every year to an exemplary village, as part of the Prince of Asturias Awards.
The Spanish royals paid a visit to the village last Friday to unveil a plaque. They then grabbed shovels to plant a tree and mingled with the residents of the village. The villagers of all ages flocked to the streets. Even the children didn’t mind sitting on stone walls to wait for a chat with the royals, shake their hands and even give them hugs!
