Royals Gather for ‘Rights of the Child’
November 23, 2009 by Maricar Macalincag
It’s not often we see royalty from several countries together in one place. When it’s for a good cause, it’s even more of a good thing.
Last week, ladies from several European royal families attended a conference for the 20th anniversary of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. The convention, which aims to protect the civil, political, economic, social and cultural rights of children, was signed on November 20, 1989.
In attendance at the conference in Stockholm, were Queen Silvia of Sweden, Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands, Queen Paola of Belgium, Grand Duchess Maria Teresa of Luxembourg, Crown Princess Mary of Denmark, Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden, Princess Madeleine of Sweden, and Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway.
