Dickie Arbiter Talks About A Royal Engagement

October 20, 2008 by Maricar Macalincag

Dickie Arbiter, a former press secretary to Queen Elizabeth, talks about the romances of Prince William and Prince Harry. Dickie says that age is what’s holding Prince William and Kate Middleton back from the wedding aisle. He also says that, at this point in their relationships, it would be very difficult for either of the princes to dump Kate and Chelsy Davy (Prince Harry’s girlfriend).

Dickie also talks about the princes’ participation in Enduro Africa this week.

In front: Princess Anne the Princess Royal, and her brother Prince Edward the Earl of Wessex; behind them, Autumn and Peter Phillips (Princess Anne’s son)

Much is being made of the dress that Princess Anne wore to last weekend’s wedding between Lady Rose Windsor and George Gilman. The white and yellow print dress was the same one that the Princess Royal wore to the wedding of Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer in 1981, 27 years ago! She even wore the same yellow hat.

The Windsor-Gilman Wedding

July 22, 2008 by Maricar Macalincag

The British royal family celebrated another wedding last weekend.

Lady-Rose-Windsor-George-Gilman-wedding-500px-nc Lady Rose Windsor and George Gilman got married on July 19, 2008 at the Queen’s Chapel at London’s St. James Palace. The 28-year-old bride is a relative of Queen Elizabeth. Her father is the Duke of Gloucester, the Queen’s cousin. Lady Rose works as art assistant and appears in the credits of the movie Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. The groom, 26, is the son of Peter and Gillian Gilman.

Notable attendees at the low-key wedding were Princess Anne, the Earl and Countess of Wessex, Peter and Autumn Phillips, Lady Sarah Chatto and Kate Middleton.

This is the second royal wedding that Kate has attended without Prince William. She was also a solo guest at Peter and Autumn’s wedding. Prince William is still undergoing training with the Royal Navy, and was unable to attend. Prince Harry is doing charity work in Lesotho.

The deal made by Hello! magazine to have exclusive access to the  wedding of Peter Phillips and Autumn Kelly has brought on quite a storm of opinions left and right. The magazine issue that devotes 100 pages to the ceremony and reception went on sale on May 21. I still have to get my copy, but I managed to find these sneak peeks at what’s inside the magazine.

As you can see, a lot of pages were devoted to royal girlfriends Kate Middleton and Chelsy Davy, who both tried to be out of sight during the day. However, Hello’s photographers still managed to take several photos of them, from what I can see.

Should Peter Phillips and Autumn Kelly Not Said "Hello!"?

May 20, 2008 by Maricar Macalincag

Peter-Phillips-Autumn-Kelly-1_nc In a rather unfortunate twist to what should have been the happiest day of their lives, newly-weds Peter Phillips and Autumn Kelly-Phillips are finding themselves at the center of a media storm. The said storm is about the couple’s decision to let Hello! Magazine into their home and into their previously private life. It is being said that they received half a million pounds for the interview.

In the run-up to the royal wedding last weekend, Hello! magazine published a multi-spread feature complete with full-page photographs of them in Aston Farm, their cottage. The couple talked about their wedding, the preparations, how they met, their relationship, and so on. There are mentions of the other members of the royal family, such as Peter’s mom, Princess Anne, and Granny, Queen Elizabeth. But the bulk of the feature focused on the two romantics.

A lot has been said about this decision to essentially play to a media hungry for such access to members of the royal family. Reports say that The Queen and other senior royals are unhappy about the deal, going so far as to refuse to be in photographs that were to be taken by Hello! photographers. The magazine’s feature on the wedding is yet to be seen. So we don’t know yet exactly what photos it will show.

Have you seen the magazine feature? What do you think?

About 300 guests converged on Windsor Castle to celebrate the wedding of Peter Phillips and Autumn Kelly today, May 17, 2008. All the senior royals were present for the wedding of Queen Elizabeth’s first grandchild, who himself is 11th in line to the throne.

Queen Elizabeth was elegant in a silver brocade ensemble and matching hat in grey and brown. The Duchess of Cornwall wore a similar hat to complete her look. Princess Anne was hatless in her simple chocolate-brown dress and cream jacket. The mother of the bride, Kitty, wore a long light blue dress with a wide-brimmed hat. The groom’s cousin Princess Beatrice wore a rather startlingly colorful head of butterflies.
