Danish Royals with Greek First Couple at Danish Museum of Art

It’s been a busy day for the Danish Crown Couple, Prince Frederik and Princess Mary. After accompanying their Greek visitors to the Lousiana Museum of Modern Art and the Windmill Park Middelgrunden, the Crown Prince and Princess met Dr. Karolos Papoulias and his wife Mrs. May Panou Papoulias at the Danish Museum of Art in Copenhagen.
This time, Prince Frederik’s brother Prince Joachim was present as well.
Prince Frederik Sails to Windmill Farm with Greek Visitors

Denmark’s Prince Frederik accompanied the visiting Greek President Dr. Karolos Papoulias and his wife Mrs. May Panou Papoulia on a sailing trip today, May 19, 2009. The group’s destination was the Windmill Park Middelgrunden in Copenhagen Harbour.
The Middelgrunden Windmill Farm, located in the Oeresund, is the world’s largest offshore windmill farm. It has 20 state-of-the-art windmills that provide 3% of Copenhagen’s electricity needs. On one of the photos below, you can see some of the windmills in the background. Prince Frederik looks like he was having a really fun time during the trip. The welcome ceremony was held outdoors with a traditional parade in review. Queen Margrethe, Prince Consort Henrik, Prince Frederik, Princess Mary and Prince Joachim attended the ceremony.

Danish Royals in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany

Denmark’s Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary visited the border town of Flensburg, in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, today, May 6, 2009. The town is home to a large Danish community.
The Danish royals were welcomed by the first minister of Schleswig-Holstein, Peter Harry Carstensen and the town’s mayor, along with hundreds of schoolchildren waving Danish flags. A school, a gymnasium and a cultural center were among the stops made by the prince and princess.

Prince Frederik, Princess Mary Visit Their New Nephew

Laden with gifts, Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary stopped by the Rigshospitalet hospital in Copenhagen yesterday to visit the newborn son of Prince Joachim and Princess Marie.
A steady stream of the members of the Danish royal family were seen going in and out of the hospital, among them proud grandparents Queen Margrethe and Prince Henrik. The baby is their fifth grandchild. Prince Joachim’s sons from his marriage to Alexandra, Countess of Frederiksborg, accompanied the monarch to see their brand new little brother.

Danish Royals at Acura Miami Regatta

Denmark’s Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary were in Miami, Florida over the weekend for the Acura Miami Grand Prix sailing event. The regatta ran from March 5-8, 2009.
Prince Frederik is a keen sailor and has competed in many events with his boat, the Nanoq. Just last January, he participated in the Acura Key West regatta.
For this trip, Prince Frederik and Princess Mary were accompanied by their children, 3-year-old Prince Christian and Princess Isabella, who will be 2 years old in April.
Prince Frederik and his crew finished 11th place overall in the Farr 40 event. His best finish in 10 races was at 5th place (twice).

Prince Frederik at the Acura Key West Sailing Regatta

I love to see photos of Denmark’s Prince Frederik sailing! This most recent one is at the Acura Key West sailing regatta in Key West FLorida, taken yesterday, January 19, 2009.
Prince Frederik, a sailing enthusiast, steered his yacht, the Nanoq, to 11th place in the 12-boat Farr 40 class. The regatta continues until January 23 and includes more than 150 boats.

Prince Frederik and Princess Mary at the European Film Awards 2008

Denmark’s Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary graced the red carpet of the European Film Awards 2008 in Copenhagen on Saturday, December 6, 2008.
Prince Frederik, who had just returned from a secret trip to Afghanistan, was immaculate in a black tuxedo. Princess Mary cut a graceful figure in a black full-length sleeveless gown with a beaded top. Her bouquet of lavender and purple flowers provided a pop of color.
Denmark’s Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen, and Britain’s Dame Judi Dench were also among the guests. Dench received the Lifetime Achievement Award during the ceremony. “Gomorra” by Italian director Matteo Garrone won for best film and best director. Toni Servillo best actor for “Gomorra”, while Kristin Scott Thomas won best actress for “I’ve Loved You So Long”.

Denmark’s Prince Frederik Visits Afghanistan

Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark secretly spent time with Danish soldiers on the front line in Afghanistan this week.
Denmark’s Prince Frederik and Minister of Defence Soren Gade with Danish troops in Afghanistan.
The prince and Danish Minister of Defence Soren Gade were on a three-day visit during which they “experienced the military operations and living conditions of the soldiers up close and have had the opportunity to talk with the soldiers about their experiences as well as thank them for their effort”.
Prince Frederik is not the first royal who has made a secret trip to be with troops on active duty this year. In January, Prince Harry served in Afghanistan early this year. In April, Prince William went to Afghanistan to meet with British personnel deployed there.

Prince Frederik and Princess Mary Visit Thailand

Danish Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary are on an official trip to Thailand. The royal couple are heading the largest-ever Danish delegation to the Asian nation, to mark 150 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

The hectic schedule during the 3-day visit meant that the couple’s two children, Prince Christian and Princess Isabella, had to be left at home. Among the places Prince Frederik and Princess Mary visited were a Danish lifestyle exhibition and the Central World shopping center in Bangkok.
