Prince Charles, Camilla in Official Visit to Japan

Prince Charles and Camilla arrived in Tokyo, Japan on October 27, 2008 to start off their tour of East Asia. They will also visit Brunei, after which Prince Charles will continue on to Indonesia, while The Duchess of Cornwall will return home. The Prince of Wales last visited Japan in 1990; the trip is the first official one for The Duchess of Cornwall.
The visit coincides with the 150th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the United Kingdom and Japan. During this trip, Prince Charles will focus on promoting environmental sustainability, emerging technologies, education and heritage.
Japanese Royals Release Rare Ibis Birds

Japan’s Prince Akishino and Princess Kiko were among those who took part in a rare and very happy occasion last Thursday, September 25, 2008.
The royals helped release 10 ibises back into the wild, for the first time in more than 2 decades. The endangered birds, a national treasure of Japan, have been bred in captivity. Some of the birds were fitted with tracking devices before their release.

Spanish Royals Welcome Japan’s Prince Naruhito

Crown Prince Naruhito of Japan arrived in Spain this week for an eight-day official trip. News reports are making much of the absence of his wife Crown Princess Masako.

The senior Spanish royals, King Juan Carlos, Queen Sofia, Crown Prince Felipe, and Crown Princess Letizia welcomed the visiting prince at the Zarzuela Palace.
