The Prince of Wales was an image of coolness despite the sizzling weather. He wore a cream sports jacket and trousers and the requisite sunglasses at the event at the Guards Polo Club in Windsor Great Park. The weather was so warm it prompted three men to strip to their birthday suits, royal audience not withstanding.

After the event, Prince Charles drove away in his car (no driver!).

Prince Charles Awards OBE to Kylie Minogue

July 5, 2008 by Maricar Macalincag

Australian singer Kylie Minogue was appointed OBE (Officer, Order of the British Empire) on Thursday, July 3, 2008 at Buckingham Palace. Prince Charles awarded the honor to the star for her services to music. The Prince of Wales pinned the insignia to Kylie’s dress and the two chatted for a while. Prince Charles asked about her recovery from cancer.

“He asked me what I’m up to at the moment and said he is happy to see me better,” the singer added.

Of her medal, she said: “I’ll admire it for a while, and then keep it safe in its box.”

Kylie wore a conservative cream dress with star patterns. This isn’t the first time she has met Prince Charles. Here’s a video of the investiture:

Kylie has also been recognized with France’s Order of Arts and Letters.
