Photos: Prince William, Prince Harry at RAF Shawbury
June 19, 2009 by Maricar Macalincag
In addition to a videotaped interview of Prince William and Prince Harry at the RAF base in Shawbury, I also have these photos of the brothers in their uniforms. We see a glimpse of the two beside and at the controls of the helicopters. The brothers are accorded no special titles while in training: they are simply known as William Wales and Harry Wales.
The media event was held to focus on the status of the princes’ training as helicopter pilots.

Prince William and Prince Harry held a media event about the current stages of their military careers.
The princes are sharing a house while they both undergo helicopter training at the Royal Air Force base in Shawbury in Shropshire. The directions of their careers are different at this point. Prince William is focusing on becoming search and rescue pilot for the RAF (correction on the AP report) while Prince Harry is learning to become an Army helicopter pilot.
Prince Harry has said that he wishes to return to Afghanistan to see action as a helicopter pilot. Prince William also has expressed a desire to be deployed.

Prince William and Prince Harry’s Polo Weekend
June 9, 2009 by Maricar Macalincag
It was a busy weekend for Prince William and Prince Harry, playing their favorite sport at two events. First, the royal brothers played in the Polo in the Park Finals at The Hurlingham Club in London on June 6, 2009.
This is the first time since 1939 that polo has been played at the Club. Saturday’s event marked the last of the two-day tournament that saw city-based teams competing against each other.
Here are a few more photos of the princes, both on the ground and as they were playing.

The United Kingdom’s Prince William and Spain’s King Juan Carlos shared a view at the finals of the UEFA Champions League on May 27, 2009 in Rome’s Stadio Olimpico (Olympic Stadium). The match was between Barcelona and Manchester United.
Prince William was invited by the Football Association (FA) to attend the game, both in his capacity as FA President and as a supporter of England’s bid for the 2018 World Cup. He was accompanied by FA Chairman Lord Triesman and other officials. He met with King Juan Carlos before the match, and also with FIFA and UEFA officials.

Prince William Makes Friends at Football Club
May 12, 2009 by Maricar Macalincag
Prince William high-fives a young fan in Kingshurst on May 11, 2009.
Prince William eschewed the traditional and more formal handshake to greet well-wishers during his visit to the Kingshurst Sporting Football Club yesterday, May 11, 2009. For his young audience, a high five was more in keeping with the spirit of the event.
Prince William, who is President of The Football Association, was clearly at ease as he met young players and coaches who were participating in The FA’s Charter Standard program. He chatted, laughed and had photos taken with the children, who were thrilled at meeting him. The royal also took some time to kick a ball around with the youngsters. As he takes on more and more royal duties, I think Prince William will bring a very refreshing turn to royal engagements.
The program provides guidance on coaching, administration and safety for youth football clubs.

Prince William Opens Whitechapel Art Gallery
May 11, 2009 by Maricar Macalincag
Prince William started the new week with a gallery opening in east London.
The royal was the guest of honor at the official re-opening of the newly-expanded Whitechapel Gallery. The gallery, which was founded in 1901, features modern and contemporary art. Among the artists whose works have been exhibited there are Pablo Picasso, Jackson Pollock and Lucian Freud.
Prince William opened his speech at the gallery with a claim that he was really the elusive guerilla artist called Banksy, to the amusement of his audience.
“Before I start,” said Prince William, “I would like to admit something. I am actually . . . Banksy. I thought that this would be a good forum to bring it out.” He paused, then added: “Any autographs I will do later.”
Prince William, Kate Middleton at Audi Polo Match
May 11, 2009 by Maricar Macalincag
Here we’ve got some lovely photos of our favorite royal couple at last! Prince William and Kate Middleton were a cozy couple at the Audi Polo Challenge at Ascot’s Coworth Park Polo Club on Sunday, May 10, 2009.
Prince William and Prince Harry played at the charity polo match with Kate and her sister Pippa watching from the sidelines. Afterwards, Prince William and Kate took a stroll across the grass, looking happy and relaxed.
Kate was sporting a familiar look of a black jacket over a simple blouse, skinny jeans, and brown boots.
With the low profile these two have been keeping in the past months, I am so thrilled to see them looking at ease and enjoying each other’s presence. I get the sense that their relationship has matured and is as strong now as it has ever been. Do you agree?

Prince William Remembers Fallen Comrades at Memorial Arboretum
April 25, 2009 by Maricar Macalincag
Prince William became the patron of the NMA Future Foundations Appeal on Friday, April 24, 2009.
The charity was launched at the National Memorial Arboretum to seek funding for further development. The arboretum is the home of the Armed Forces Memorial, dedicated to the service men and women who have died on duty or due to terrorist activity. Two of Prince William’s fellow Sandhurst graduates, Second Lieutenant Jo Dyer and Captain Lex Roberts, are among those honored at the memorial; their names are among the most recent that have been added.
In his speech at the Arboretum, Prince William reflected on his role as patron:
It is an immense honour for me to be the Patron of this Appeal – to have the chance to contribute something towards ensuring that future generations can come and learn with pride of the great debt that we owe all those commemorated here – military and civilians from the police, fire and ambulance services.

Prince William Celebrates JCB Construction Milestone
April 25, 2009 by Maricar Macalincag

Prince William got into gear on Friday to mark a milestone for JCB, a manufacturer of construction equipment.
The company has produced a digger as its 750,000th machine. Prince William got behind the controls, most probably the first time he’s operated a digger. Not to worry, though, it was all in a safe environment inside JCB’s World Headquareters in Rochester, England.
