British Royals at Remembrance Sunday 2009

On Sunday, the British Royal Family led their country in commemorating the end of the of World War I Remembrance Sunday at the Cenotaph in London.

Queen Elizabeth, Prince Philip, Princess Anne, Prince Andrew, Prince William and Prince Harry joined British political leaders at the Cenotaph in London for Remembrance Sunday. As customary, the royals laid wreaths during the ceremony honoring those who died in battle.

I’ve got a few more photos of the grand and glittering State Banquet hosted by Queen Elizabeth for the President of India Prathibha Devi Singh Patil yesterday. The banquet was held at Windsor Castle after a welcome ceremony during the day.

Royal Fashion Friday: Hats at St Paul’s Cathedral

Last Friday, Queen Elizabeth and her family joined the commemorative service to honor British personnel who served in Iraq. For the solemn occasion, the British royal ladies donned neutral, somber colors and kept their hats in the more traditional range. The royal men came in military uniform, as did Princess Anne, who holds honorary military appointments.
Queen Elizabeth’s gray coat decorated with black flowers, and matching hat set the mood for the fashion of the day:

Princess Anne of the U.K. and Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark joined forces to launch the International Save the Children campaign in Copenhagen, Denmark on October 5, 2009.
 
The goal of the Save the Children campaign is to reduce the mortality rates of children under 5 years old all over the world. The organization addresses issues such as poverty, disease and emergency situations, in which young children are affected.

Princess Anne Opens St John Ambulance Youth Center

Princess Anne met with young people at the opening of the new youth center for the first aid charity St John Ambulance. The center offers opportunities for the youth to engage in a variety of new sports and activities, including climbing and archery.

Princess Anne is one of the busiest, if not the busiest, of the British royals. She has engagements on most days of the week, sometimes even more than one per day. Ladies Day, the third day of Royal Ascot, is one of the highlights of the event that combines British horse-racing and fashion in a signature way. It is the ladies’ day to shine with the most unique hats seen anywhere.

British Royals Celebrate Easter 2009

Queen Elizabeth, Prince Philip, Prince Andrew and Sophie (behind the wall) on Easter Sunday 2009
The British royals, minus the younger set, got together on Easter Sunday, April 12, 2009, for their traditional celebration at Windsor Castle’s Saint George’s Chapel.
Queen Elizabeth, Prince Philip, Princess Anne, Prince Andrew, Prince Edward and Sophie, Countess of Wessex attended the morning services led by the Dean of Windsor, the Right Rev David Connor. There seemed to be a threat of rain that morning, but the royals came prepared!
Prince Charles and Camilla were reported to be in Scotland.

Video: Princess Anne in Australia

Last week, Princess Anne represented Queen Elizabeth at the memorial for the victims of the fires in Australia. The national service was held at the Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne on February 22, 2009.

The Princess Royal read a message from the Queen during the memorial service, which said in part:
"Although a little daunted, when faced with the scale of loss, and the physical and mental impact that these bushfires have made and are still making for Victoria, individuals and towns have responded with resilience, ingenuity, courage and selflessness to situations that were changing at terrifying speed”
