Queen Elizabeth Attends Church before Returning to London
February 8, 2010 by Maricar Macalincag
Queen Elizabeth attended a public church service yesterday at the West Newton parish church near Sandringham. The outing was her last in Norfolk before her return to London today. Following tradition, the Queen has been at her estate since just before Christmas. Though the past weeks have not been a purely work-free vacation, I’m sure she enjoyed her more relaxed schedule in the estate, having lots of time with her corgis, horses and the countryside.
At the church, the Queen and Prince Philip briefly met some of the residents who gathered outside the church to greet the royals. A couple of …read more
Royal Fashion Friday: Coats for the Ladies
February 5, 2010 by Maricar Macalincag
We’re still in the grip of winter where I live, though thankfully not facing the prospect of a snowstorm like what’s in the U.S. East Coast right now (I hope you guys are keeping warm and safe!). It’s a good time to look at the coats and other cold weather clothing that the royal ladies have been wearing lately.
Denmark’s Crown Princess Mary comes in out of the snow into the New Carlsberg Glyptoteque in Copenhagen on January 27, 2010. She attended the award ceremony of the Elite Research Awards, which are given to outstanding Danish scientists. She wore this striated …read more
Royal Fashion Friday: Royal Clutch Bags
January 29, 2010 by Maricar Macalincag
For today’s Fashion Friday, we’re going to shift gears from entire outfits to a specific item in royal fashion: the clutch. These versatile little bags can carry a princess or queen’s most important necessities. Perhaps a handkerchief or tissues, lipstick and some other small makeup items, photos of the kids/grandkids? Whatever it is that they may need for royal engagements, these accessories are sure to hold.
The royal ladies of Spain and Denmark, and their pretty bags, are the features for today.

Royal Fashion Friday: Princess Letizia’s Work Wardrobe
January 22, 2010 by Maricar Macalincag
Let’s take a break from Prince William-mania for a bit, shall we? Seeing as its Fashion Friday, I put together this group of photos of Spain’s Princess Letizia as she went about her work for her country and the Spanish royal family.
Being a working royal who goes out to attend public engagements pretty much every day must bring with it certain wardrobe requirements. These everyday outfits must be business-like, comfortable, and stylish but not overly faddish. Shall we see how Princess Letizia’s work wardrobe fit the bill?

Royal Fashion Friday: Autumn Phillips’s Coat
January 8, 2010 by Maricar Macalincag
One of our merry readers Julie has noted that there were no photos of Autumn Phillips on Christmas morning, as the British royals were going to church in Sandringham. Autumn was there, of course, with her husband Peter Phillips. Having missed her in that post, I figured she gets a post of her own.
So today’s fashion feature is Autumn’s coat that Christmas morning. At first, I wasn’t too keen on this coat, with its mix of blue, fuschia, black and white. But the longer I looked at it, the more I like it. Sure, it’s different. But by pairing …read more
Royal Fashion Friday: Princess Letizia’s Recent Fashion
December 4, 2009 by Maricar Macalincag
Spain’s Crown Princess Letizia has been busy in the past weeks, attending award ceremonies, meetings and other events. The former journalist has worn a variety of styles, from trousers to combinations of short dresses, opaque tights and platform shoes. It’s all about the clothes and shoes today!
Above, the princess and her mum-in-law Queen Sofia attended the annual beneficial market of Nuevo Futuro (New Future) on November 23. This was a more informal visit, looking at the goods available from various merchants. Princess Letizia was in dark grey slim trousers, a grey top and a purple cardigan, and her Burberry …read more
Royal Fashion Friday: Princess Madeleine’s Miu Miu Bag
November 27, 2009 by Maricar Macalincag
Spotted last week at the Rights of the Child anniversary conference was Sweden’s Princess Madeleine toting a Miu Miu bag. This is the Miu Miu Coffer Black Scamosciato bag in ruched leather, with a plaited handle and gold hardware. It’s perfect for a day in meetings, and then a night out to a concert!
Here’s another look at the bag, and Princess Madeleine’s outfit that day. I would love to see the dress she was wearing under that coat. If you know of any photos that show that, send along the links!

Princess Beatrice Steps Out in Glittery Gold
November 5, 2009 by Maricar Macalincag
I thought I’d do a fashion post a day early because I just love this little gold dress that Princess Beatrice wore last night.
The young British princess and her boyfriend Dave Clark attended an event at jewelry house Garrard & Co. in Mayfair, London. They then went for dinner at Nobu.
Royal Fashion Friday: Dutch Royals in Formal Wear at Dance Festival
October 30, 2009 by Maricar Macalincag
Members of the royal family of the Netherlands put on their tuxes and gowns for the opening night of the Holland Dance Festival. The biennial festival is held in The Hague and features performances, workshops and a dance parade. This year, the 12th edition, coincides with the 50th anniversary of the Nederlands Dans Theater. It runs from October 28 through November 15.
The lovely ladies of the Dutch monarchy chose different colors for their gowns. Queen Beatrix was in a navy blue fishtail gown. Princess Maxima picked a lovely grey halter, with matching wrap.
Royal Fashion Friday: Princess Maxima in Hot Pink
October 30, 2009 by Maricar Macalincag
Princess Maxima was dazzling in hot pink when she opened the new Culturalis Theater the other day. I think her outfit, particularly her darling shoes, deserves a closer look.
The Dutch crown princess had an ensemble of two pieces of the same fabric, which looks like silk brocade. First, her dress was sleeveless and fell just above the knee (you can see that dress here). Over it, was a cropped jacket embellished with a black tie. Her little purse also looks like it was custom-made from the same fabric, so that she matched completely!
Then you have to see her adorable …read more
