The Danish Royal House announced today that Princess Nathalie is engaged to Alexander Johannsmann! Wow, this is shaping up to be quite the year for engagements and weddings.

Princess Nathalie, 34, is the youngest child of Princess Benedikte (sister of Queen Margrethe II) and Prince Richard of Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg. She is a former dressage world champion and was a member of the 2008 Danish Olympic team. The photo above was taken in 2007 during a training event for the World Cup Challenge in Odense, Denmark. Lord Freddie Windsor and Sophie Winkleman tied the knot at the Chapel Royal at Hampton Court Palace last Saturday, September 12, 2009.

The groom is the son of Prince and Princess Michael of Kent. Prince Michael is a cousin of Queen Elizabeth. Sophie Winkleman is an actress who has worked in theater, television, the movies and radio.
Princess Eugenie was among the 400 guests at the wedding.

It’s all about royal weddings and engagements these days, it seems!
This weekend, speculations have erupted once again about a (secret) engagement between Prince William and Kate Middleton. Only, it’s simply called “an understanding” for now.

It was announced today by the Swedish Royal Palace that Crown Princess Victoria and Daniel Westling will wed in 2010!
Princess Victoria and Daniel, the owner of a chain of fitness centers, have been a couple for seven years. They met in 2002 when the popular princess was working out at one of the gyms. The wedding is set for early summer next year.

Much is being made of the dress that Princess Anne wore to last weekend’s wedding between Lady Rose Windsor and George Gilman. The white and yellow print dress was the same one that the Princess Royal wore to the wedding of Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer in 1981, 27 years ago! She even wore the same yellow hat.

Among the 300 guests who attended the wedding of Denmark’s Prince Joachim and Marie Cavellier were the prince’s own family of course, Norway’s Crown Couple Prince Haakon and Princess Mette-Marit, and Sweden’s Crown Princess Victoria.
Queen Margrethe II arrived in a stunning lovely pink gown, on the arm of her husband Prince Henrik. Crown Prince Frederik and Princess Mary were a lovely couple, with the princess in a soft light blue gown with a multi-layered skirt. Denmark’s Prince Joachim and French-born Marie Cavallier were married last weekend at the ancient Mogeltonder Church.
Marie, now styled Her Royal Highness Princess Marie, wore off-white gown by David Arasa and Claudio Morelli. The gown had a three-meter-long train. Marie also wore a tiara belonging to her new mother-in-law Queen Margrethe II. Her bouquet included winter barley from the fields of Schackenborg Castle, and white lilies.
The reception attended by 300 guests was held at the Castle, where the newly-weds will live.

In the midst of the media coverage of the Phillips-Kelly nuptials, let’s not forget that there is another royal wedding this month.

Denmark’s Prince Joachim and Marie Cavallier are getting married tomorrow, May 24, 2008 in Mogeltonder Church in Southern Denmark. The private reception will be held at nearby Schackenborg Castle, an 18th-century estate. The castle is also where the couple will reside after the wedding.

The deal made by Hello! magazine to have exclusive access to the  wedding of Peter Phillips and Autumn Kelly has brought on quite a storm of opinions left and right. The magazine issue that devotes 100 pages to the ceremony and reception went on sale on May 21. I still have to get my copy, but I managed to find these sneak peeks at what’s inside the magazine.
