The reign of King Juan Carlos, the head of the House of Bourbon, began on November 22, 1975. He and Queen Sofia have three children: the Infanta Elena, the Infanta Cristina and Prince Felipe.
- The Infanta Elena is married to Jaime de Marichalar, with whom she has two children: Felipe Juan Froilan (b. 1998) and Victoria Federica (b. 2000).
- The Infanta Cristina is married to Iñaki Urdangarín. They have four children: Juan Valentin (b. 1999), Pablo Nicolas Sebastian (b. 2000), Miguel (b. 2002) and Irene (b. 2005).
- Prince Felipe is married to Princess Letizia. They have two children: Leonor (b. 2005) and Sofia (b. 2007).
